Poem is a wonderful piece of work that is composed to convey ideas, experiences, emotions or expressions vividly through the interplay of words and rhythm for the entertainment of the readers.
World Poetry Day is celebrated on 21st of March each year and was declared by the UNESCO to add value to this international art medium.
The Department of Cultural Affairs has taken steps to organize an Impromptu Poetry Competition in the year 2018 in line with the World Poetry Day to encourage the poets engage in this field in Sri Lanka.
