Receiving of books published in 2023
Notice to the writers and the Book Publishers on the State Literary Awards Presentation organized by the Ministry of Buddha Sasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs and the Department of Cultural Affairs.
Books published in the year 2023 will be reviewed for the presentation of literary awards in 2024 and the State Advisory Council of Literature receives the books that were registered in the Department of National Archives in 2023. This catalogue is available on www.culturaldept.gov.lk, and could be examined by visiting the Department of Cultural Affairs, the Cultural Book Store of the Sinhala Dictionary Office, Sir Marcus Fernando Mawatha, Colombo 07 or at the Cultural Division in all the District Secretariats Island wide from 20th February 2024. With a view to streamlining the process of reviewing, opportunity is granted to the writers and the publishers from 09th February 2024 to hand over their books directly to the Department of Cultural Affairs, which have not been included in this catalogue or not handed over to the Department of National Archives.
Children’s Books of more than 16 pages or other books of more than 49 pages which were first published during the period of 01st January to 31st December of 2022 in Sinhala, Tamil or English languages could be handed. Two (02) printed copies of each book are accepted for reviewing. The books could be sent by registered post or could be handed over along with the dully filled application prepared as per the following format to the Director, Department of Cultural Affairs, 8th Floor, Sethsiripaya, Battaramulla before 15th March 2023.
