This program was launched for the first time in 2012 by the Department of Cultural Affairs for the cultural show presented at the Book Fair held at the BMICH, organized by the Book Publishers’ Association annually. Now this event has become a popular performing event in the Book Fair.

This program was initially conducted with the contribution of the artistes of the State Dance and Music Ensembles. At present the traditional artistes throughout the island as well as the popular artistes add color to this show and “Kamatha” in the premises of the Book Fair stage at the BMICH  is used for the performing events such as Kolam, Sokari, Folk Dramas, folk songs, film songs, traditional drumming events of upcountry, low country and Sabaragamu, foreign dance items etc. Steps have also been taken to popularize the art song using “Subhavitha Gee Viyamana” where the singers of the 60-70th decades are on the stage to mesmerize the audiences by their soothing voices.
